A timely reminder from Exclusively Cats Veterinary Hospital:

During this time of year we feel it is important to let you know that Easter lilies are potentially deadly to cats.  All parts of the plant are considered toxic, and intoxication can occur with ingestion of less than one leaf.

Symptoms to look for include vomiting, loss of appetite, and depression.  If your cat exhibits any of these symptoms or if you suspect that your cat has ingested any part of an Easter lily seek veterinary care immediately.   With prompt treatment, full recovery is possible. Due to these risks, cat owners are encouraged to avoid placing lilies where cats reside.

Please share this with ALL cat owners you know!

Spring is here!! Is your cat protected against FELINE HEARTWORM DISEASE?

Heartworm infection is caused when an infected mosquito bites your cat. The immature larvae are carried to the arteries in the lungs where they cause an inflammatory reaction that can results in signs including coughing, vomiting, breathing difficulties and even death. Heartworm disease is difficult to diagnose and treat, but easy to prevent with one of several medications that are given monthly during the warm weather months. Studies have shown even indoor cats are susceptible, with some studies reporting over 25% of infected cats being strictly indoors. April 15th is not only time for taxes, but time to start your cat's heartworm prevention.

Please call 248-666-5287 and let us help prevent Feline Heartworm Disease in your cat!
